Collaroy ocean rock pool at daybreak // Sydney, Australia

Sydney’s beaches are adorned by rock pools. According to one article I found, there are over 100 rock pools in Sydney. The rock pool at Collaroy Beach is one of my favourites, most likely because it is closest to home.

The morning I took this photograph the sun had just peaked over the horizon and was bathing the rock pool in warm golden sun. The tide and swell conditions were right, sending wave after wave of water crashing over the top of edge of the pool. I took this photograph looking north across the rock pool. In the distance you can see the coastline of Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
